Come visit the earliest active opera house in all of Spain. Inaugurated in 1829, the Teatre Principal de Maó is both living history and a top cultural reference on the island of Menorca. A true symbol of the city of Maó, this 18th-century horseshoe-shaped theatre was built by the Italian entrepreneur Giovanni Palagi. It has become one of the primary jewels of Balearic-Island heritage due to its beauty, history and architecture.
